Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness; and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy, health systems management, and education are also key nursing roles.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Generic BSN) is a 4-year program offered after the completion of F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or equivalent based on Annual System wherein the Professional Examinations are conducted by The University of Health Sciences, Lahore. Shalamar Nursing College is one of the oldest Nursing Colleges in Pakistan offering BSN Program since 2005; which is fully recognized by The Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and accepted all around the world.

Aims & Objectives of the Course:

The aims and objectives of the course are to prepare nursing graduates who will:
  • Utilize cognitive, psychomotor and affective abilities derived from the humanities and the natural, behavioral and nursing sciences to provide nursing care to individuals, families, groups, and communities
  • Utilize the nursing: process to deliver safe and effective nursing care for an individual, family, group and community at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels

Post-RN Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Post-RN BSN)

(2-year Program)

This program has been designed for the nurses who already have completed Diploma in General Nursing, Diploma in Midwifery (any other Post Basic Specialty in case of Male) and are registered as Nursing Professionals by Pakistan Nursing Council after the completion of at least Matriculation with Science Subjects (or equivalent) in order to acquire the baccalaureate degree with the focus on Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Health Assessment, Nursing Management and other Nursing Sciences Subjects. The program is fully recognized by The Pakistan Nursing Council and is based on annual examination system conducted by the University of Health Sciences, Lahore. The qualification is added in the PNC Records upon the successful completion of the program; and graduates are preferred in terms of hiring, promotion, assignment of managerial tasks and so on.

Aims & Objectives of the Course:

The aims and objectives of the course are to prepare nursing graduates who will:

Post Basic Diploma in Critical Care Nursing (ICU/CCU)

(1-year Program)

This program is designed for the registered nurses who want to develop the specialty in Critical Care Nursing and pursue their career in Critical Care Areas. This is a one year program which is fully recognized by The Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and Nursing Examination Board, Punjab (NEBP). The examinations are conducted by The NEBP upon the successful completion of one year Academic and Clinical Training.

Aims & Objectives of the Course:

The aims and objectives of the course are to prepare competent nurses who will:
  • Work as bedside practitioner in all aspects of Critical/Intensive Care Nursing and prepare themselves for working in Emergency and all type of ICU Care Units
  • Be skilled in making clinical assessment, interpretation of clinical findings and taking appropriate decision and action in total patient care
  • Be specialist nurses having advance competency integrated with knowledge and skills by using systematic approaches to the nursing care

Post Basic Diploma in Nephro-Urology Nursing

The aims and objectives of the course are to prepare competent nurses who will:
  • Be Skilled in all aspects of Accident & Emergency Care Nursing by improving physical, social, emotional and intellectual well being of the patient

Scholarships

The SNC disburses merit Scholarships to students showing outstanding performance in the examinations held by the University of Health Sciences Lahore. The scholarships shall only be for positions obtained at the University level amongst all the institutions affiliated with the University of Health Sciences Lahore. Scholarships shall be awarded to the students receiving first, second and third positions in the University Examinations amongst all the participating students. Scholarships will be awarded one year and reviewed after the subsequent professional examination.

Student Transfer/Withdrawal Policy

As a matter of policy, students are relieved during the course or the compulsory service. However, suppose any student after admission to POST (RN) & POST BASIC diploma programs decides to withdraw voluntarily from the college before mandatory service. In that case, they compulsory will have to pay the fees for the remaining period of the course a penalty. However, no payment shall be refunded if a student leaves the college one month after commencement of classes.
The credits earned in the parent institution by a student seeking migration into an affiliated/ constituent institution or department of the university shall be equated by the migration/ equivalence committee. The equated credits shall be considered for determining their eligibility to take the year-end university Examination.

Students who wish to transfer to our school from another institution can be accepted with the following conditions:
• NOC from the previous institution within the Punjab province only
• Official transcript of the record of passed subjects taken from 1st to 2nd year
• Payment of required fees to UHS and PNC
